10/22-10/24 Energy transfers and transformations within systems; manipulating objects within systems to affect the movement of energy
10/25 - Discussed the pros and cons of different voting methods and machines 10/26 - Field Trip Upcoming - continue with transfers and transformations relating to chemical and thermal energy Read pages 454-455 in the textbook. Do the skills activity on page 455.
10/15-10/16 - Review
10/17 - Unit Test 10/18 - Used Gizmo simulation to continue with energy - acceleration in free fall, vacuum vs. atmosphere, and factors affecting an object's velocity 10/19 - the difference between energy transfers and energy transformations; looked at some elastic potential energy examples Next week -start the relative potential energy of an object depending on it's position in a system. Read your review packets and come in to class Monday with questions.
Reminder - No late homework will be accepted after Tuesday 10/16. Any homework not turned in by 10/16 will be a zero. 10/9- continued building coasters
10/10 - Cycles 5,6,7 raced their coasters/cycle 4 continued building as they missed a day the previous week 10/11 - Cycles 5,6,7 discussed factors increasing/decreasing the speed of their coasters and talked about acceleration and ,speed vs.velocity. Cycle 4 did not have class. 6 and 7 had textbooks handed out. 4 and 5 will receive them next week. 10/12 - All cycles joined their Gizmos classrooms, and 5,6,7 worked through the free fall simulation. Cycle 4 will work through the simulation next week. Review packets for the test on 10/17 were handed out. Vocabulary - power, acceleration, speed, velocity Next week there is a unit test covering forces and motion on Wednesday. We will use the early part of the week to review and the two days after the test to continue learning about different types of energy and energy transfers. 10/1 - Designed coasters with partners
10/2-10/4 Building coasters For the week starting 10/9 we will finish building, then race the marbles down the coasters. Using your coasters, we will discuss more about force and motion, kinetic energy, potential energy, gravitational potential energy, and energy transfers. Later in the week, I will hand out a review sheet for the upcoming unit test. Give 2 of the 3 energy examples posted on your Google classroom.
